Celebrating 47 years in the family business!

1975 was the year Graham Charles Humphris started Coventry Garage Doors. Previously he had been operating a delivery service, delivering garage doors all over Britain.

He decided to have a go at selling and installing them. Working from a home office and a van for several years, he started repairing, servicing, modifying to automatic, and fitting all kinds of garage doors and carports. This was with the help of his wife Rachel taking phone calls and making appointments. He managed all of the bookkeeping himself for many years.

In the early 80’s the business grew with additional staff and he was accompanied by his daughter Cilla and son Martin. The home office and store was outgrown, premises were obtained in Mercer Avenue and this is where the company operated from for over 20 years before moving to a larger facility.

The Current Team

In 1987 his younger son Karl joined the company after training in Carpentry and Joinery, and having initial building experience. By this time the company had a good reputation and regular trade customers. During the 90s the company grew significantly, employing more staff, working with more trade builders, developers and local authorities along with increased retail garage door replacements, industrial doors, shutters, forecourt security and carports.

2004 was when Eastern Garage Doors was started as a branch in Norfolk doing the same line of work as in the Midlands. Using the same marketing strategy, high standard of workmanship and reliable customer service. This paved the way for a steady increase of trading, installing garage doors, front doors, awnings, carports, security doors and shutters, and industrial door for retail customers, businesses and trade customers.

Eastern Group UK includes Eastern Garage Doors, Eastern Security Doors and Eastern Awnings & Canopies, and is now run by Karl & Angie Humphris and their sons Austin, Edwyn and Nelson.
