In any home, certainty over safety delivers peace of mind. So, you can be certain, when using a sectional garage door fitted by us, we’ll only offer you sectional doors which comply with the mandatory high safety standards required under BS EN 13241. From anti-drop devices through to obstacle detection, from mechanical strength to an emergency manual release, you have the reassurances you need in every respect.

Obstacle detection.

Concerns over children playing on your driveway are removed by the use of clever safety technology. For instance, an automatic safety cut-out stops the door if it encounters an obstacle and reverses a short distance. Modern operators don’t just “push” the door they open and close it – they monitor force levels through built‑in safety circuits many times per second. Any unexpected increase in force caused by even a small amount of resistance is treated as a potential obstruction.

Safety-first spring systems.

Spring assemblies equipped with integrated safety devices provide immediate travel interruption if they fail. This mechanism prevents the garage door leaf from dropping, delivering a critical safety function on premium doors – particularly useful with heavy, double‑width door systems.

Torsion springs mount above the door when there is enough headroom space in the garage. Often used with a wicket door and heavier options such as solid timber doors. An integrated spring safety device prevents the door leaf from falling.

Tension springs run alongside the tracks and are paired with safety cables to keep the system contained, if a spring fails, during everyday use. Multi-spring systems add further reassurances.

Door guides and safety tracks.

Safe, reliable door guidance is built into every component:

Adjustable rollers

  • Guide the door smoothly along the track
  • Keep movement stable during opening and closing
  • Reduce noise and vibration

Reinforced roller holders

  • Hold each roller securely in position
  • Prevent unwanted movement that could affect alignment
  • Add long‑term strength to the running gear

Safety track systems

  • Use a captive track profile that keeps rollers securely inside
  • Prevent the door from lifting out or “derailing,” even under stress
  • Maintain safe, controlled travel throughout the full door cycle

Finger trap protection on the inside, outside and on the hinges.

Safety is key in sectional garage door design with regard to the potential trapping of fingers. They are purposely designed so that there are no exposed trap points on the inside, outside, or around the hinges – Keeping them safe for very day use.

  • Prevents fingers from entering gaps on the inside of the door
  • Uses a shape-engineered panel profile to remove internal pinch points
  • Protects hands on the outside of the door during opening and closing
  • Section geometry keeps outer panel joints safely enclosed

Emergency release lock.

An emergency release key can be turned to manually unlock your garage from the outside in the unfortunate event of you being locked out, perhaps during a power outage or motor failure. Typically installed through the top panel, it works by freeing the emergency‑release mechanism on the operator boom, inside your garage. This action disengages the motor drive from the door, allowing you to lift the door by hand. Conversely, when you have access to the garage interior, a manual‑release cord (often red) mounted on the trolley of the operator can be pulled to disengage the sectional door from the drive system so it can be lifted manually.

Ambience pack.

Add exterior lights to your garage to create a striking design feature while also improving visibility and safety after dark. These modern lighting units highlight the door area, brighten your driveway, and make it easier to access your garage at night.

The features described do not always correspond to the standard versions and can vary according to model and type of door.
